Week fourteen

The exam so far this week was much harder than I thought. Which means that I'm not studying enough and this new section with a calculator should be easier. I've spent all morning with my new tutor and I feel a lot better going into this part of the exam. I will now be studying with my one on one tutor for the rest of the semester.

Week Thirteen

Last week we went over how to find the area of a revolving object around the x-axis. This seems easy enough to grasp visually, however plugging it in correctly and doing all the individual steps correctly is a different story. I have a lot of practicing to do in order to get where I want to be for next week's test. We've been told that the test is all on integration so it will be nice to know what area to study in more detail instead of a broad, daunting huge amount to study. I"ll need to be in the math lab on campus all of Saturday to study with my professor to be sure I have a firm grasp on the material. Over the weekend I found this link to help me grasp what's going on as well: http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guide/Volumes-of-Solids-of-Revolution.topicArticleId-39909,articleId-39907.html

Week Nine

Week nine means time for another exam. I feel more prepared for this one than the last because I've been doing the homework. That doesn't mean it's going to be smooth sailing though because I know the questions on the test will represent the most difficult problems from our homework.

Week Eight

As week eight begins I now seem to have my rythim down with my time scheduling for the homework. I now spend two hours before every class doing the homework that is due that afternoon, as long as I keep that up and keep going in on Saturdays to be sure I understand the week's sections.

Week Seven

Week seven is all about consistency, being consistent in going to the math tutor lab to do all my homework. This needs to happen every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even if I see and comprehend what's going on in class I need to do all the homework to be ready for any homework quizzes.

Week Five and Six

Week five was a firm slap in the face to wake up and spend more time in the math tutor lab. This week's three sessions before class will be followed by a Saturday session to make sure I have the week's new sections polished.

Week Four

Week four is a short one because of the holiday weekend. Normally I'd be happy but we have an exam next week and I could use the practice. There also won't be tutoring over the weekend because the school will be closed. I'll be searching the Internet to find links to sites and videos to help my cyber tutoring.

Week three

Week three is upon us. I now have a full plan of action that includes only doing my homework in the math lab where I can never get stuck on a problem. Most of the tutors are students in very high level math who really seem to enjoy doing it. But now I'm running into the first real issue I have struggled with in calc before: Logarithms. They have always been a struggle for me and I can't figure out why. Every time I think I have them figured out something else pops up and I don't know what I'm doing anymore. We'll see if the math lab can take care of that because if not I will have to start meeting with the professor in person in his office hours.

Week Two

As the second week closes, we continue a review that I can easily follow and keep up with whats going on. This means I need to set up a good schedule that I can keep up all semester. As soon as I start falling behind I'll be in much bigger trouble than I think. Getting caught up is always much harder than it seems.

First Week Itis

First week is review. An easy way for me to think I know what I'm doing until next week when all of a sudden the problems on the hand outs look nothing like what just happened on the board...
